Development of Empirical Model for the Prediction of Viscoelastic Properties of Nano Hydrated Lime (NHL) Modified Asphalt Binders
سنة النشر: 2025
This study developed empirical models to forecast the viscoelastic characteristics of asphalt binders enhanced with Nano Hydrated Lime (NHL). The study used AC-60/70 penetration grade bitumen and included NHL at concentrations of 0 %, 1 %, 3 %, 5 %, and 10 % by weight of the binder. The models focused on the Superpave rutting factor (G/Sin δ) and viscosity, while integrating NHL content and test temperature as primary factors. The viscosity model demonstrated an exponential correlation with NHL content, but the G/Sin δ model showed a nonlinear pattern attributed to decreased stiffness at higher NHL percentages. The ideal NHL content was determined to be 5 %, which significantly improved rutting resistance and viscosity. These models serve as a pragmatic instrument for engineers to enhance NHL use in asphalt binders, hence augmenting pavement performance and sustainability.
