Shoman Cinema Committee to Screen French Algerian Film “DNA” Tomorrow

Amman – Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation’s Cinema Committee will screen the French Algerian film “DNA” by director and actress Maïwenn, tomorrow, Tuesday, at 6:30 PM in the cinema hall and 8:00 PM outdoors at the foundation’s headquarters in Jabal Amman.

DNA (2020) explores family, identity, and cultural heritage through the story of a divorced woman tracing her roots. As she reconnects with her grandfather, a former Algerian immigrant in France, the film delves into memories, intergenerational conflicts, and the struggle to preserve one’s cultural identity. Through intimate family moments, the granddaughter discovers her connection to Algeria, ultimately embracing her heritage and seeking citizenship in her ancestral homeland.

Director  Maïwenn, masterfully blends narrative and documentary styles, capturing life in French Algerian communities with authenticity, emotional depth, and cinematic elegance. The film explores migration, resilience, and the enduring connections between past and present, offering a powerful reflection on identity and belonging.
