Your privacy and the security of your Personal Data are extremely important to us. At Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation (hereinafter referred to as "the Foundation"), we affirm that the personal data you provide is always treated as private and confidential, and is processed in accordance with the Jordanian Personal Data Protection Law No. 24 of 2023 (hereinafter referred to as "the Law").

This Privacy Notice (hereinafter referred to as “The Notice”), aims to provide you with information on how we will use your Personal Data, our commitment to ensure it stays private and secure, and what Personal Data we collect and process about you as well as your data privacy rights and how you can exercise them.

 

How Do We Collect Your Data

The foundation collects your data through one of the following means:

 

  1. Directly: we obtain Personal Data from you directly in order to facilitate your interactions with the Foundation. For instance, library registration requires the input of some Personal Data, such as name, gender, date of birth, address (country of residence), phone number, email, and the purpose of this information is to identify the user and verify their eligibility for membership.
  2. Indirectly: we may obtain Personal Data about you indirectly from a  various of sources, including cookies, device ID’s, and social media platforms, this is to better understand and serve you, meet a legal obligation, or pursue of another legitimate interests.

How We Use Your Data

We collect your Personal Data for several purposes related to our services and for other legitimate reasons, including, but not limited to:

  • To provide and manage your account/s and our relationship with you.
  • Providing you with information regarding your account or our relationship.
  • Responding to inquiries and handling complaints.
  • Delivering our services to you.
  • Evaluating, developing, and improving our services for you and other users.
  • To contact you via mail, phone, SMS, email, and other digital methods.
  • Assessing any application you submit.
  • Monitoring, recording, and analyzing any communication between you and us.
  • Sharing data with Arab Bank – Head Office as part of centralized operations.
  • For purpose of litigation, consultation, legal advice, or documentation of transactions.

Legal grounds for Processing Your Personal Data

We process your Personal Data with your explicit written consent unless the processing is in alignment with applicable regulatory requirements or is considered legitimate Personal Data processing within the Foundation's operations as a non-profit cultural institution

 

Data Retention

Your Personal Data is retained in the Foundation’s database. Account data is not deleted to enable account recovery upon the beneficiary’s request. If you wish to delete your account and associated Personal Data, you may submit a request via the “Cancel Account” option on the mobile application, which will result in the deletion of your identity information. How We Protect and Safeguard Your Personal Data

We will take reasonable technical and organizational measures to prevent the loss, misuse, or alteration of your Personal Data. We strive to ensure that only those who need access to your Personal Data have it, and those individuals who have access to the Personal Data are required to maintain its confidentiality.

If you are using our online services or mobile application, you are responsible for keeping your username and password secure

Who Has Access to Your Personal Data and to Whom It Is Disclosed

Your Personal Data is being shared only with Arab Bank for the purpose of centralized operations. The Foundation was established as a non-profit initiative by Arab Bank, allocating a portion of its annual profits for this purpose. Your data is not shared with any third party.

What Are Your Rights and How Can You Exercise Them

According to the Jordanian Personal Data Protection Law No. 24 of 2023, you have the following rights concerning your Personal Data held by the Foundation:

  • The right to access your Personal Data within the custody of the Foundation.
  • The right to withdraw prior consent you have provided for the processing of your Personal Data.
  • The right to rectify, amend, or update your Personal Data.
  • The right to erase your Personal Data or to restrict the processing of your Personal Data.
  • The right to object to processing and profiling if it is unnecessary to achieve or outweigh the purpose for which the Personal Data was collected, or if they are discriminatory, unfair, or in violation of the law.
  • The right to be informed in case of inaccurate disclosure and Personal Data breaches. Note that in the event of a serious breach of your Personal Data security and safety that could cause significant harm to you, the Foundation shall notify you within (24) hours from the discovery of the breach and provide you with necessary measures to avoid any consequences resulting from the breach. This is in compliance with the Law.

Amendments to the Notice

We reserve the right to update this Notice to reflect changes in our practices in accordance with the Law. Any updates will take effect upon being posted on our website.

Personal Data: Any information related to an identified or identifiable individual, whether in their private, professional, or public life, such as ID number or address.

 

Processing: Any operation or set of operations performed on Personal Data or on sets of Personal Data, whether automated or not, such as collection, recording, organization, structuring, storage, alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, restriction, erasure, destruction, or disclosure by transmission, dissemination, or otherwise making it available

 

Terms and Conditions for Library Registration Services

These terms aim to regulate your use of the library membership card and our electronic services, and to ensure a positive experience for all users.

  • Library membership cards are for the use of the registered member and the family members listed in the application only.
  • ID verification may be requested by staff.
  • Members are responsible for any loss or damage to borrowed items as per library policy.
  • The library reserves the right to take appropriate action for overdue books.
  • Membership cannot be cancelled six months from the issuance date.
  • The library reserves the right to suspend or cancel membership for policy violations.
  • The library may verify the address provided in the application.
  • Library deposits may be fully refunded in cash upon membership cancellation, excluding payment fees if paid through e-fawateercom

 

Violations of Electronic Services Terms

  • Providing inaccurate or false information to access the Foundation’s services.
  • Using the services for commercial or unlawful purposes.
  • Activities that disrupt the Foundation’s servers, including data mining or bots.
  • Using the services to deliberately violate laws or third-party rights, including intellectual properties or privacy rights.
  • Logging into a server or account without authorization.
  • Probing, scanning, or testing system vulnerabilities or breaching security/authentication measures.
  • Circumventing technical measures that control access to protected content.
  • Creating multiple accounts for the same person; in such cases, one account should be deleted
