Amman, October 12 –Today, Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation launched the “Azraq” platform for Arabic content, a move aimed at creating a qualitative leap in the Arab digital cultural scene in terms of format, content, and working style.
The platform represents an extension of the foundation’s path in digitizing knowledge and making it accessible to a wider audience through various digital media, in line with the accelerating global and regional digital transformation.
Farah Abu Aisheh, Director of Communication and Public Relations at Shoman Foundation, shared that “Azraq” responds to a pressing cultural and media need by delivering high-quality stories that celebrate the richness and diversity of Arab culture, the platform reflects a shared ambition to enhance the digital cultural experience.
She noted that data indicates that the proportion of content available in Arabic on the internet did not exceed 0.6% in 2023, while the percentage of Arabs using the internet exceeds 78%. She explained that this digital knowledge gap was a major motivation for launching the platform, to provide a qualitative space for contemporary Arabic content.
Abu Aisheh explained that the “Azraq” platform covers a wide range of cultural topics, including science, literature, art, music, cinema, and Arab heritage. It aims to produce Arabic content that reflects the culture, resonates with its audience, and meets high editorial, visual, and audio standards.
She added that to organize this work, the content produced on the platform is divided into three main areas:
• Podcasts (Audio Content): Audio content providing knowledge and cultural discussion in a contemporary style.
• Visuals: Video productions that present cultural stories and ideas in an engaging visual language.
• Written Content: Articles and texts that open spaces for thought and intellectual discussion.
She noted that during the first phase of production on “Azraq for Arabic Content,” several content series were developed, including:
• Bookologia: A series about books worth reading from the global library.
• The Poet Said: A series presenting Arabic poetry in a contemporary manner, covering several topics such as wisdom, Arab cities, heritage, and more.
• Movie Secrets: A drama series that reveals the behind-the-scenes of films through the story of a cinema intern and a film critic.
• Music and the City: A series exploring the musical history and heritage of various Arab cities.
• Masirah: A series of scientific dialogues with Arab scholars and researchers.
• Aleph, Ba, Al-Hakayah: A series of interviews with specialists in children’s literature, including writers, critics, educators, and publishers.
Abu Aisheh emphasized that “Azraq” is not just a new publishing channel, but a digital cultural project committed to the highest production standards at all stages from concept to drafting, from visual processing to final output. The goal is to provide reliable and rich Arabic content that keeps pace with changes in how audiences consume digital knowledge.
Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation considers this platform an extension of its cultural project and an opportunity to enhance impact and reach a wider audience. The foundation called on institutions and individuals to support the platform and share its content across their digital networks. The platform can be accessed at: www.youtube.com/@azraqplatform
