Amman, March 11 – The Abdul Hameed Shoman Digital Library continues to keep pace with the digital age, offering a wide range of services designed to meet the needs of researchers, students, readers, and anyone seeking to expand their knowledge.

To achieve this, Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation launched its digital library platform, giving readers easy access to thousands of books from anywhere in the world. In today’s fast-moving era of information, the library is no longer just a place to visit—it has become a companion that can go wherever you go.

Nizar Al-Hmod, Director of the Foundation’s Public Library, emphasized that the digital library is a natural extension of Shoman’s libraries, which have played a pioneering role in spreading knowledge since the public library’s establishment in 1986. From the start, the library has aimed to provide free and comprehensive access to knowledge for all.

The digital collection features more than 3,250 titles, including e-books and audiobooks, ranging from global and classical literature to a wide variety of academic and general knowledge subjects. Readers can access e-books directly on their phones or computers or listen to audiobooks anytime, making reading more flexible and accessible during daily life or on the move.

Al-Hmod explained that the collection caters to all age groups. It includes children’s books to nurture imagination and a love of reading, titles for teens and young adults, and a wide selection of literary and educational works for adults. He highlighted the library’s ease of access: anyone in the world can use it via an internet-connected device. Once registered, users can browse the digital collection and borrow books with ease.

The borrowing process mirrors that of traditional libraries: digital titles can be borrowed for up to 14 days, after which they are automatically returned, so other readers can access them, Aland knowledge can reach even more people. Interested readers can subscribe through the Foundation’s website for full details.

Since its launch in 2019, the Abdul Hameed Shoman Digital Library has served over 20,000 users, highlighting the growing role of digital platforms in making reading and knowledge accessible to all. The service is completely free for users, both inside Jordan and abroad. Al-Hmod described it as “more than just a place to read, it is a gateway to a vast world of knowledge and a perfect example of how technology can put books within everyone’s reach. Simply put, it is a large library that fits in your pocket.”
