Jordanian band Jurf Gentlemen performed a distinguished musical evening at Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation last Thursday titled “Classics of the East and West.” The concert took audiences on a musical journey blending iconic Eastern and Western masterpieces, featuring beloved classics reimagined with a contemporary touch.
The band presented a rich repertoire that brought together the works of legendary Arab artists such as Abdel Halim Hafez, Fairouz, and Ziad Rahbani, alongside internationally renowned classics and timeless jazz standards. Through live musical arrangements, the performance combined nostalgia with a fresh and modern spirit.
The evening featured a selection of popular songs and instrumental pieces, including Betahadda El Alam, Nahna Wel Amar Jiran, Bala Wala Shi, Kol El Qasaed, Albi Dalili, Bel Aks, Ahwak, When You Tell Me That You Love Me, Bésame, Die with a Smile, Strangers in the Night, and Love Story.
The concert featured musicians Yazan Al Jurf, Omar Al Jurf, Yousef Musharbash, Motasem Azar, Joseph Demerjian, Abdel Nasser Yass, and Andy.
The Foundation’s Director of Communications and Marketing said that the event is one of the initiatives through which Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation promotes access to live music and supports a vibrant and diverse cultural and artistic scene in the community.
She added that the Foundation launched its Music Evenings Program in early 2014 to highlight promising young Jordanian musicians, celebrate Jordanian music pioneers, introduce audiences to diverse Arab and international musical traditions, and make music more accessible to the local community.
