11-08-2026

The Cinema Committee at Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation will screen the Macedonian film DJ Ahmet, directed by Georgi M. Unkovski, on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Foundation’s cinema hall and at 8:00 p.m. in the outdoor courtyard at its Jabal Amman headquarters.

Set in a remote village in North Macedonia, the film follows 15-year-old Ahmet, a shepherd boy living in a conservative community while struggling with family responsibilities and the loss of his mother. Despite the pressures surrounding him, Ahmet finds comfort and freedom through his passion for electronic music.

His life takes an unexpected turn when he meets Aya, a young woman resisting an arranged marriage, and the two bond over their shared love of music and dreams of a different future. After a chaotic incident involving Ahmet’s sheep at a secret forest party goes viral online, he suddenly finds himself thrust into the spotlight, forcing him to confront the expectations of his family and community.

Blending humor, music, romance, and social commentary, DJ Ahmet is a coming-of-age story about identity, freedom, and the courage to pursue one’s dreams in the face of tradition and adversity.
