Ma'an Cultural Days

As part of its commitment to promoting cultural equity and expanding access to cultural engagement, the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation organized in the year 2024, the Foundation held its “Cultural Days” in Ma’an Governorate, coinciding with the opening of its sixth public library branch, in partnership with the Greater Ma’an Municipality.

Over the course of four days, more than 80 intellectual, cultural, artistic, and scientific activities were presented, all designed based on an assessment of the local community’s needs. The events witnessed wide engagement, with 5,057 direct participants and a 72% satisfaction rate, reflecting the success of the experience in achieving meaningful reach and impact..

The event was the result of the Foundation’s collaboration with 37 local partners and the active involvement of the Shoman Ambassadors at Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, which strengthened the sustainability and community ownership of the cultural impact. The visual identity, inspired by Ma’an’s heritage, along with a promotional campaign that surpassed 2.3 million views, played a key role in expanding participation and engagement.

This initiative served as a practical model for cultural empowerment of communities, embodying the Foundation’s vision of making culture a right accessible to all citizens. It also contributed to establishing sustainable knowledge spaces across the governorates—beginning with Ma’an, which became home to the first library of its kind in southern Jordan.

Irbid Cultural Days

Organized by the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, under the patronage of the Governor of Irbid, and in partnership with the Greater Irbid Municipality and various cultural and media institutions, the event was held in October 2016.

These Cultural Days featured a wide range of activities for all age groups, including musical evenings showcasing Jordanian talents, panel discussions and introductory sessions about the Foundation’s programs and initiatives targeting various community segments. The event also included screenings of international and scientific films, as well as films produced by Yarmouk University students. In addition, a book fair was held with book-signing events, alongside comedy, entertainment, theatrical, and folkloric performances, creating a rich and diverse cultural experience for attendees.

The Foundation also focused on enhancing scientific and recreational activities for children by organizing science exhibitions, in addition to special programs and activities for school students delivered by the Knowledge Path Library team.

Aqaba Cultural Days

Organized by the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation and the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, in cooperation with Souq Jara Al-Bahar, the National Gallery of Fine Arts, the Goethe-Institut, and Azbakeya Amman, the event was held in December 2015.

The Cultural Days featured a variety of activities for all age groups at Souq Jara Al-Bahar, including a used book fair, a caricature exhibition, musical and singing performances, folk art shows, and book-signing events. The Knowledge Path Children’s Library team also organized a range of engaging activities such as creative and artistic workshops for children, screenings from the Science Film Festival, a mural painting activity in collaboration with the National Gallery of Fine Arts, and interactive sessions for school students.

With a rich array of cultural and entertainment activities, the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation—the cultural and social responsibility arm of the Arab Bank—launched its Cultural Days in the city of Al-Salt, in cooperation with several institutions and companies. The four-day event took place on July 10, 2019.

Held under the patronage of H.E. Senator Dr. Marwan Al-Hamoud, the event featured a variety of cultural and artistic activities, as well as creative programs for children and youth. It also included musical evenings, workshops, and film screenings, all designed to engage audiences of different age groups.

The Foundation carefully curated the events, aiming through its Cultural Days to strengthen its ongoing efforts to support creativity and creators, and to promote culture and the arts. The program offered an integrated cultural and artistic experience, including activities for children and youth, literary and artistic evenings, book-signing events, as well as cinematic, folkloric, and artistic performances.

Jabal Amman Cultural Week

In celebration of Jabal Amman as a cradle and cultural hub in the heart of Jordan’s capital, the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation organizes the Jabal Amman Cultural Week in partnership with the Jabal Amman Residents Association (JARA), under the patronage of the Greater Amman Municipality, and in collaboration with numerous cultural institutions.

The week features a wide range of public cultural activities for all ages and interests, including international children’s film screenings, Jordanian films, musical and poetry evenings, panel discussions, and a book fair with book-signing events. It also includes children’s activities, as well as photo and caricature exhibitions, creating a vibrant cultural experience for the community.
