The Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Children's Literature
We Write for Arab Children
Believing in the importance of childhood as the cornerstone of building societies, and in the role of literature in nurturing generations capable of expression, critical thinking, and creativity, the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation launched the Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Children’s Literature in 2006. The award serves as an annual platform that encourages Arab creators to write rich Arabic literary content that meets children’s psychological and cultural needs, reflects their identity, and refines their imagination.
The award aims to support the literary movement dedicated to children in the Arab world and to provide contemporary Arabic content that is rooted in linguistic beauty and constructive imagination. It seeks to enrich the child’s aesthetic sense and encourage them to make books their first companions.
This year’s theme targets children aged 6 to 8 years and focuses on the embarrassing situations and bullying experiences they may face during the early days of their school life.
The first edition of the winning work is published in print for one year, and in digital and audio formats for five years.
An honorary trophy engraved with the award’s name and logo, along with a certificate of appreciation
