The Knowledge Path Library at the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation recently concluded the activities of the summer club in the governorates. The Abdul Hameed Shoman Library hosted, in the Foundation’s Forum Hall, yesterday’s evening on Wednesday, as part of the Writer and Writers program, the Jordanian novelist Abdullah Al-Zayoud to discuss his novel “Yaltahem Nafsah Bade’an Bi Qadamaih.” The author, Hashem Al-Gharaibeh, facilitated the event as it was broadcasted live on Zoom and the Shoman Foundation’s page on Facebook. The idea of the novel came through the description of an impossible being that was mentioned by the writer "Mario Bargas Yosa" in his book "Rasa’el ‘Ela Riwa’i Shab". Based on simile, the author expressed the connection between the creature and a liar who feeds on his private life to write novels, according to the novelist Al-Zayoud. The writer Al-Zayoud selected the city of Zarqa, which has the credit at the onset of his career, to portray the story in a popular neighborhood, where a small white truck broke into the house of the family consisting of a mother and her son located in the Nozha neighborhood in the city of Zarqa, the second largest Jordanian city after the capital city, Amman. Al-Zayoud stated that the novel belongs to the genre of fantasy and philosophy showcased in several aspects. Moreover, many writers and critics expressed their admiration for his new novel, which bears a language displayed by some as genius and a distinctive style in describing the events. For his part, the writer Hisham Gharaibeh said that the writer Abd Al-Zayoud writes in a different way from the conventional trend, stressing that if the writing does not violate the conventionality and did not contain any novelty or astonishment, it would be placed on the shelf and the reader would quickly get bored of it. He pointed out that the author amazed him with his ability to elevate the realistic facet of life into a fine art. As a result, the characters in the novel became characters from the writer's sculpture, indicating that Al-Zayoud in this novel presented a main central character and branched characters.
