Nomination for New Books to the Pioneers of the Shoman Library within the “Ansab Lakum” Initiative

As part of the “Ansab Lakum” initiative launched by the public library at the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, recently, to encourage reading among members of society, Dr. Muhammad Al-Jazi selected a collection of books that were nominated for library visitors to view and read to benefit from their valuable content. To be followed in this regard, “Ansab Lakum” is an initiative to nominate books by influential public figures, whether these public figures have political, economic, intellectual, cultural or artistic orientations because they are deemed bookworm figures so that, through their reading experience, they can recommend to pioneers a set of book titles that they consider valuable and worth reading. The Shoman’s Library provides book titles and displays them in a special cabinet designed for this purpose, with reference to the person who nominated them. Pioneers can read these books inside the library or borrow them. Dr. Al-Jazi has selected a number of books, the most important of which are: The Granada Trilogy by Radwa Ashour, The Confrontation in Writing by Taher Al-Adwan, The Farce of the Human Mind by Ali Al-Wardi, Leon the African by Amin Maalouf, (Manuscript Found In Accra) by (Paulo Coelho), (Justice Interrupted) by (Elizabeth F. Thompson), and (The Good Spy by Kai Bird, A Peace to End All Peace by David Fromkin, Why Nations Fail by Daron Acemoglu, and Ibn Khaldoun: An Intellectual Biography by Robert Irwin, Palestine by Nur Masalha, The harem within : tales of a moroccan girlhood by Fatima Mernissi, and Personers of geography by Tim Marshall. The “Ansab Lakum” initiative stemmed from the belief of the Public Library in Shoman that libraries mainly aim to increase the knowledge of members of society, and for that they provide their services as an informative center that yields reliable paper and electronic knowledge sources, and as a community center that gives the space for the general public to utilize their skills with continuous learning. What bears mentioning here is that Dr. Omar Al-Jazi holds a PhD Degree in International Commercial Arbitration law from the University of Kent at Canterbury in the United Kingdom in (2000), and a master’s degree in International Trade Law from London Guildhall University in the United Kingdom in 1994. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Jordan in (1992). He is a lawyer specializing in international trade laws. He has extensive experience in the fields of international contracts, mediation, commercial arbitration, intellectual property, transportation issues in general, maritime navigation and nuclear law in particular, in addition to competitive and anti-competitive affairs, antimonopoly. Dr. Omar Al-Jazi holds many positions, as he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, director of Al-Jazi and Associates / Lawyers and Legal Consultants, a member of the Board of Directors of the Queen Rania Foundation for Education and Development, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Amman Arab University and the former president of the Jordanian Arbitrators Association, in addition to a membership of several boards Trustees and boards of directors of companies, funds to name a few. It is noteworthy that the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, The Arab Bank’s Cultural and Social Responsibility arm, is a non-profit organization that invests in knowledge, cultural and social creativity contributing to the advancement of societies in the Arab world through leadership, thought, literature, arts and innovation.
